Procurement explores the beauty and act of collecting, highlighting the value we attribute to individual items when they stand as a part of a greater collection. The piece is an arrangement of various pottery cups which were collected over time, sorted by shape and colour. The typography draws attention to rarity and uniqueness attributed to the things we collect, and how it heightens our attachment to them making it precious. Each cup is intentionally framed and lit to create a sheen and uniformity reinforcing desirability. The subjects were set atop a soaked duvet cover, which reveals the feathers inside mimicking a marble like texture. This was an unexpected but serendipitous textural element that created a layer of depth without distraction, and showing how items develop meaning when contextualized in a greater curation. Each cup created an indentation in the fabric with its own shadows; When formed side by side this formed an implied grid, providing a uniformity amongst subjects without requiring a rigid structure. I wanted it to appear as if the cups were placed on a single blanket.
