WORKING WITH YOU FROM SCRIPT TO SCREEN

The Youth in Frame and Focus PROGRAM was an 8-week creative media program for high school to university aged youth, building skills in graphic design, filmmaking, and storytelling through a community lens. Participants engaged in sessions around the storytelling process, connecting their lived experiences within a grounded documentary narrative short film.
We’ve created a series of short films and multimedia pieces exploring themes from migration to music—each rooted in healing and community, later screened as a public multimedia exhibit and film screening.
7Doors Film Internship
During this summer I had partnered with Roywood Neighbourhood Centre, a grassroots non-profit organization focused on children and youth education. This partnership allowed me to work with youth interested in learning beginner skills in various parts of the film production process. This lead to an internship program where I had developed curriculum which taught basic aspects of the film production process for each intern which expressed a desired focus. The curriculum also taught values around storytelling which would be applied to the 2 different media projects which required varying degrees of skill level.

By the end of the internship, I was able to work with youth in producing music videos teaching youth to play songs on ukelele, as well as a more focused podcast project where youth discussed the importance of race unity.
